Director Notes on I HEART WA **UPDATED**
A "Mixed Bag" challenge by Chris Lefty Brown was cast and I took the bait. The challenge was quite simple: make a mix cd and send it to some of your fellow bloggers. The theme could be your choice.
I took it upon myself to do a Washington state themed mix. To me, this meant every musician had to be from the state of Washington. And I elminated anything grunge because that seemed too obvious. Since I'm a newly minted Seattlite, I took this as a challenge to learn more about local music. And my fellow bloggers got the final result. There is a little bit of everything from alt-country to hip-hop a la electronic glitch-pop.

To top of this nod to my adopted home state, Dylan carved my design and pressed it so the mixes were sent with a hand painted wood-block cover. It was a fun challenge. And even if I end up scaring everyone with my eclectic taste, I got a lot out of it. So thanks Lefty! It was fun!

I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it, yet...I'll post more when I do. You do win the no-rpize for the bext looking CD cover. It's gorgeous in a way that would make Brian "Demo" Wood jealous!
Wow. I think that's the best compliment ever. Wood is a favorite of both mine and Dylans.
I can't wait to hear all the mixes....
Well, I HAVE listened to it. It's my favorite so far, of the four I've heard. And it's not scary at all.
I've listened to it three times already - it's my favorite mix so far. It has a great, end-of-the-day feel.
Plus, the cover art is simply awesome
Roger's disc doesn't seem to want to leave my player, so I haven't listened to this one yet, but I will say that the cover is simply lovely. Right after I got it, I made my partner Keith stop what he was doing and look at it. He hates it when I do stuff like that, but he loved the cover. It reminds me a lot of the Hatch Show Print posters.
