Gratitude

In a brief respite from Cerebus blogging, i'd like to thank a few kind souls in the teeming metropolis of the comic-blogging community (i'm still not sold on the word "blogosphere"...please, some better term must exist!) for sending some traffic our way.

And so, Clandestine Critic, Chris "Lefty" Brown, and Progressive Ruin, we owe y'all one!

Cerebus blogging continues once I've had a chance to revise my entry on the behemoth that is Church & State 2. And maybe we'll see some non Cerebus material if Serene's package from John Pham shows up...And it looks like this Wednesday will be the first time in 3 weeks I've been to my local shop, so hopefully there will be something for me other than the latest installment of Andi Watson's Little Star to write about. The Cerebus re-read is fun, but it'd be nice to have some respite...

Stick around!

Last Christmas I did the whole "read Cerebus" thing - all 14 volumes, except for whatever was in Cerebus 0.

In two weeks.

I don't really envy you your task. While every volume has at least one sequence that made me glad I read it, i think if given the choice I would have stopped at Jaka's story.

And your quick pace is going to stop dead as soon as you get to Reads. Also if you read all the annotations in the backs of the later books.

Good luck!

yes, Reads is the big speed bump/derail int he series, as far as i'm concerned. i've read it once, a it was being published, but trying to slog through it all at once? that's the part i'm afraid of...

Jaka's Story is pretty much the cutoff point for most people's consideration of the series, but I happen to like Melmoth quite a bit, for what it is, and like you said, there's something in each book to reward the effort...
